GIMJE CITY, South Korea - Gimje is a city in Jeollabuk-do, North Jeolla Province in South Korea. Jeollabuk-do is a province in the southwest of South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Jeolla province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea, while Gimje City is a warm, abundant and a great center of Korea's 5,000 year-old rice farming culture.

One of our dearest kababayan hailed from Iloilo City is working in Gimje City in a factory for more than 8 years now, she is Chayen Kim. Chayen, a very friendly Filipina and a happy Piscean is a hardworking Pinay worker in South Korea. Chayen also wishes the site as well as Pinoy Overseas, our Sunday radio program more power for making a real big difference bridging Pinoys out there and giving them so much importance eventhough their miles and miles away from home. She also wants to extend her warm greetings to all of her true found friends in Gimje City as well as in her hometown, Iloilo City.
